Get ready to make music, make friends, and experience the excitement of playing in a real band. YMS Croydon’s 3-Day Band Camp is designed for children and young people of all abilities — whether they already play or want to try an instrument for the very first time.
Across three fun-filled days, students will explore instruments, build skills with specialist teachers, rehearse in age-appropriate bands, and work towards an exciting live performance for family and friends at the end of Day 3. With singing, electric guitar, keyboard, drums, and bass to choose from, there’s something for everyone.
No prior experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to have fun!
Camp Schedule
Day 1: Discover & Create
Try a range of instruments including singing, guitar, keyboard, drums, and bass
Further existing skills or start something completely new
Choose an instrument to focus on for the rest of the camp
Form bands grouped by similar age and stage
Start learning your first song together
Fun games and movement breaks throughout the day
Day 2: Build & Rehearse
Instrument skill-building sessions with specialist teachers
Band rehearsals to develop your sound and teamwork
Confidence-building and stage presence activities
Continued practice preparing for the final performance
Day 3: Perform!
Final coaching and rehearsal time

Who is Band Camp for?
Band Camp is open to children and young people of all abilities. Beginners are very welcome, and more experienced players can continue developing their skills.
Do students need prior experience?
No. Day 1 includes the chance to try instruments and learn the basics before choosing one to focus on.
Which instruments are included?
Students can take part in singing, electric guitar, keyboard, drums, or bass.
Do students need to bring an instrument?
No — all instruments are provided on site.
How are groups organised?
Students are placed into bands based on similar age and stage to ensure a supportive and enjoyable experience.
Will there be breaks?
Yes. Each day includes regular movement breaks, games, and downtime to keep students energised and engaged.
Who will be teaching?
Specialist music teachers will be on site throughout the camp, supporting instrument learning and guiding band rehearsals.
What will students achieve in 3 days?
They’ll learn how to play together as a band, grow in confidence, develop musical skills, and perform live at the end of the camp.
Is there a performance?
Yes! Families are invited to watch a special end-of-day performance on Day 3 where each band will showcase what they’ve learned.
What should students bring?
A packed lunch, a drink, and plenty of enthusiasm!
