Drum Encounters

Drum Encounters will experience a fun and innovative way to learn to play drums, taking you from beginner to advanced level whether you’re a child or adult!

Open to anyone from the age of 7, our lessons are ideal for those seriously considering a musical career and also for those who want to play just for fun.

Taught in groups of up to 8 students, our lessons offer you a unique way to learn. The lessons will combine the best elements of a traditional 1:1 lesson with the added bonus of developing ensemble skills and keeping up with your classmates.

Your classes will take place with an accredited Yamaha drum tutor in a fully equipped classroom using the best drums and practise pads.

If desired, our lessons can help you prepare for a graded certificate with Rock School Limited. The Yamaha grade 1-8 syllabus is accredited by RSL Awards (Rockschool). Grades 6-8 are worth up to 30 UCAS points.

  • There is not set time frame for the Drum Encounter’s Course. We curate our lesson schedule to cater for different abilities, allowing students to be nurtured in an environment that suits their playing ability, natural pace of development and age.

  • We highly recommend you have at least a drum pad to practice on at home. You can purchase these from us at YMS Croydon.

    You will also need the Drum Encounters Bundle which includes Ear Defenders, Drum Sticks and the 2 starting text books for £40 all included.

  • Adults are not required to attend every lesson. However, we recommend arriving 5 mins before class to take down homework with your child and ask any questions.
