Trip Travel Information – Safety First
At Yamaha Music School Croydon, learning continues beyond the classroom. Our off-site visits—to Endurance Steel Orchestra, Flip Out, and Costa del Croydon—are designed to spark creativity, teamwork and confidence. Above all, student safety is our highest priority.
This page explains the measures we take so you can feel completely reassured whenever your child leaves Camp Base (Trinity School) with us.
📝 Planning & Risk Assessment
Comprehensive risk assessments are completed for every journey, venue and activity.
Pre-visit checks confirm accessibility, supervision points and emergency procedures.
We review individual medical/dietary needs to ensure the trip is inclusive for every student.
🧑🏫 Supervision & Staffing
All leaders are DBS-checked Yamaha staff with experience running school trips.
Safe adult-to-student ratios are set according to age and activity.
Clear behaviour and safety briefings are delivered before departure; staff carry up-to-date medical and emergency contact information plus first-aid kits.
🚌 Travel & Transport
All destinations lie within 2.5 miles of Trinity School, so we travel by public bus—routes 466 or 119, whose stop is directly outside the school gate.
Staff marshal the group for boarding, seating and disembarking; journeys are short, direct and fully risk-assessed.
On Tuesday we have the Flip Out trip and will disembark the bus at the Whitgift Centre.
On Wednesday we have the Costa del Croydon trip in Centrale Shopping Centre. We will disembark the bus at the Whitgift Centre.
On Thursday we have the Endurance Steel Orchestra trip and will disembark the bus at the Croydon Flyover.
Easy identification:
Every student is issued a YMS high-vis vest or a Summer Camp brightly coloured T-shirt (you may purchase and keep forever for £5 when booking).
Each child wears a personalised wristband displaying the YMS emergency phone number.
🏛 Venue Safety & Activity Management
Endurance Steel Orchestra: are close colleagues who are experienced in youth music workshops; secure indoor premises at Friends Meeting House and clear safeguarding routines.
Flip Out & Costa del Croydon: both sit within Centrale Shopping Centre, whose management team we have partnered with during the refurbishment of our new home. Their staff operate robust health-and-safety and safeguarding systems, with security administering admission and we coordinate arrival times so areas are ready for us.
All venues hold up-to-date liability insurance and provide their own safety briefings, which we supplement with our own instructions.
🆘 Emergencies & First Aid
At least one first-aid-trained staff member accompanies every trip.
Staff carry mobile phones; the school office tracks progress and is the first point of contact for parents.
Should circumstances require, parents/carers are contacted immediately and, if necessary, students returned to base without delay.
📩 Parent Communication
Before each excursion you will receive:
A detailed itinerary and timings.
What students should bring or wear.
Staff contact numbers and emergency procedures.
Afterwards we share photos and highlights so you can celebrate your child’s achievements.
