Every weekday in August from 04/08, get ready for the most creative and adventurous Holiday Club in Croydon!
We feel that our holiday camps suit children 5-12yrs old, but please get in touch if you have any queries around suitability via info@ymscroydon.com
Every morning will be a 3-4hr music workshop with our team of expert Yamaha Instructors. From band workshops, to trying new instruments, to Steel Pans…. We have a fun filled schedule that will ensure learning, progression and tons of fun. If you already play an instrument or have never played before but would like to try, this is the place for you! Please keep an eye on this page for the updated schedule - activities and trips may need to be moved around as the activity and workshop schedule builds up!
Every afternoon after lunch will entail in an activity. We may visit local attractions such as Flip Out, the board games café or even the cinema. Some afternoons though, we may stay on site and continue the music workshop or get creative with outdoor games or arts and crafts. Please keep an eye on this page for the updated schedule - activities and trips may need to be moved around as the activity and workshop schedule builds up!

Prices
1 day 9am - 5pm £65 (available to book after 4th July)
5 days (1 week, 5 consecutive days) 9am-5pm £290…£35 less than booking 5 x day passes! (must be booked before 4th July)
5% discount for the second sibling and existing Yamaha Students. We sorry that we are unable to accept Childcare vouchers or government funded schemes right now.
50% non refundable deposit is required. Full payment required by 4th July 2025
Location
Our base-camp will be at Trinity School, Croydon. This is where you will drop off (9am) and pick up your child (5pm) at the end of each day. All of our music workshops will take place here, except for Steel Pans which will take place at Quaker Meeting House, Park Lane in Central Croydon. Some afternoons we will take a school trip to local venues such as Flip Out and Costa del Croydon. We will travel by bus after lunch with a full YMS team of teachers and leaders, returning to Trinity School by 4:30pm for afternoon pick up. Please see our travel arrangements here. All activities are included within your booking fee.
How does it work?
Book a day pass (9am-5pm) via the booking page accessed by the links below. If you wish to book a half day, please email info@ymscroydon.com
You will receive your invoice within 5 days of making your online booking. Invoice 1 will be for your 50% non-refundable deposit. Invoice 2 will be for the remaining 50% fees, which must be payable 14 days before your first day at camp.
For each day your child is attending, please drop off your child between 8:45-9:15am at Trinity School. Directions will be provided in your welcome pack ahead of the week starting. Your welcome pack will also include a check-list to ensure that you don’t forget the necessities - sun cream, lunch, you know the drill!

At the end of the day, please pick up your child between 4:45-5pm at Trinity School. Late pick ups may be subject to an extended care invoice, which will be sent to you in an additional invoice.

Monday:
Morning (9am - 1pm) Samba Workshop. We will explore all things Brazilian percussion ranging from traditional to more contemporary instruments. By the end of the session, students will be able to play standard Samba grooves, just like the ones in Rio De Janeiro carnival! Students will learn a fun Samba arrangement of a well known pop song - come and find out how Samba can be applied to modern music! Samba, funk, pop fusion...don't miss out!

Tuesday:
Morning (9am - 1pm) Stomp Workshop. Inspired by the world-famous stage show STOMP, this high-energy workshop invites students to explore rhythm, movement, and creativity in a completely unique way. Using household items, junk percussion, and body beats, we’ll transform ordinary objects into instruments and build original routines together.
Lunch (1pm-2pm)
Afternoon (2-4:00pm) Trip to Flip Out via Bus. Travel schedule here.
Performance (4:50-5pm) Group performance: Upon pick up, parents, guardians and carers will be invited to see what students learnt in the Stomp workshop!
Wednesday:
Morning (9am - 1pm) Song Writing Workshop. Become lyricists for the day, exploring how words can be turned into powerful, playful, and meaningful songs. Through fun, interactive activities, children will be guided through the process of writing their very own song lyrics — from brainstorming ideas and storytelling, to creating verses and choruses that express their thoughts and feelings. This is a perfect introduction to songwriting, designed to inspire self-expression and spark a lifelong love of music and creative writing.

Afternoon (2-5pm) Song Recording and Arts & Crafts
Thursday:
Morning (9am - 1pm) Film Music Workshop Day 1 (We recommend you attend Day 2 on Friday). Day 1, we dive into the magical role music plays in movies. Children will watch short clips and trailers with and without music, discovering how sound shapes mood, emotion, and drama. They’ll explore the building blocks of film music — tension, excitement, sadness, joy — and experiment with instruments, voices, and body percussion to create their own soundscapes.
Using guided discussion and creative play, they’ll begin crafting their own mini film stories or characters to align with a chosen animation, thinking about what kind of music each scene needs. By the end of the day, each group will have the foundations of their very own short film score.

Friday:
Morning (9am - 1pm) Film Music Workshop Day 2 (We recommend you attend Day 1 on Thursday). Day 2 is all about bringing ideas to life! Children will develop and rehearse their film music ideas along to a set animation, choosing melodies, rhythms, and sounds that match the action and emotions of their stories. They'll be introduced to basic composing techniques suitable for their age, including layering sound, building dynamics, and using motifs for characters or scenes.
The group’s creation will be recorded and sent to all participants guardians/carers.
Lunch (1pm-2pm)
Afternoon (2-5pm) YMS Cinema Screening at Trinity. To wrap up a creative film music session, we will wind down the day with an in-house cinema screening (certificate U) and arts and crafts.

Children will be introduced to a variety of band instruments – from keyboards and drums to guitars, vocals, and percussion. Through guided games and creative group tasks, they’ll explore how each instrument plays a unique role in a band.
Even complete beginners will be supported in finding sounds and keeping a beat, while more experienced players will be gently challenged with parts that suit their level. Everyone will try different instruments and begin working in small groups to jam, improvise, and create short musical ideas together.

Thursday:
Morning (9am - 1pm) Band Workshop Day 2 (We recommend you attend Day 1 + 3 also) Now it’s time to turn ideas into songs. Bands will begin rehearsing together, learning how to listen, play in time, and support each other musically. With help from friendly music leaders, children will explore how to structure a song, keep a steady rhythm, and add their own creative flair – whether that’s a drum groove, a melody, or a set of fun lyrics.
Workshops will also include warm-ups, mini performances, and confidence-building games. Each band will start shaping their piece, ready for a performance on the final day.

Friday:
Morning (9am - 1pm) Band Workshop Day 3 (We recommend you attend Day 1 + 2 also) The final day brings everything together. Bands will rehearse and polish their pieces, working on their performance skills – from starting and ending together to using body language and expression to bring their music to life.
Whether it's a high-energy pop cover, an original jam, or a funky instrumental groove, every child will take part and shine as part of their band. No experience? No problem. Already play an instrument? Amazing! Everyone’s contribution matters, and every child will leave feeling proud, included, and inspired.
